Possible Causes

Open or shorted cabinet thermistor, damaged sensor harness, incorrect sensor installation, control board ADC failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before accessing sensors or the control board.

  • Identify sensors: Ikea ice makers typically have at least one cabinet thermistor and one evaporator thermistor. Refer to the service diagram if available.
  • Inspect harness: Follow the sensor wires from the cabinet to the control board. Check for pinched or cut wires and secure all connectors.
  • Test thermistors: Remove the suspect thermistor and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to expected values (often 10 kΩ at 25°C). Replace any sensor with readings far outside specification.
  • Control board: If all sensors test correctly but E20 remains, the main control board’s sensor input circuit may be defective and require replacement.
