How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before starting a deep clean. Do not submerge the entire appliance in water.
- Drain the unit: Use the drain plug (if equipped) or carefully tip the unit over a sink to remove old water.
- Prepare cleaning solution: Mix a 1:1 solution of white vinegar and water or use an Insignia-approved ice maker cleaner.
- Run cleaning cycle: Fill the reservoir with the solution to the indicated level. Many Insignia models have a CLEAN button or mode—activate it and let the cycle complete.
- Manual cleaning: Wipe the ice tray, evaporator, and reservoir with a soft cloth soaked in the cleaning solution. Avoid scratching metal surfaces.
- Rinse thoroughly: Drain the cleaning solution, then refill with fresh water and run at least one full cycle. Discard the first batch of ice.
- Reset CLEAN indicator: On some models, press and hold the CLEAN or POWER button for several seconds to clear the reminder.
