Possible Causes
Failed circulation water pump, Blocked water inlet or pump filter, Airlock in pump, Loose pump wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker and remove water from the reservoir before servicing the pump.
- Check water level: Ensure the reservoir is filled to the correct line. Too low a level can cause pump errors.
- Inspect the pump intake: Locate the small pump at the bottom of the reservoir or under the tray. Remove any visible debris from the intake screen.
- Bleed air from the system: Refill the reservoir, tilt the unit slightly forward and backward to help release trapped air bubbles from the pump.
- Check pump wiring: Access the underside or rear panel to find the pump wires and connector. Make sure the connector is secure and wires are intact.
- Test pump operation: With the unit reassembled, plug in and start a cycle. Listen for the pump running (a soft humming sound) when water should be circulating. If silent, the pump is likely failed.
- Replace the pump: If the pump does not run or is very noisy and E7 persists, replace the circulation water pump with a compatible Insignia part.
