Possible Causes
Dirty infrared ice sensor, Stuck bin full lever, Misaligned sensor bracket, Failed ice full sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning or adjusting sensors.
- Empty and dry the bin: Remove the ice basket and dry any condensation that may be on the sensors.
- Clean IR sensors: If your Insignia model uses optical sensors, gently wipe the emitter and receiver windows with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- Check mechanical lever: If there is a plastic lever that detects ice level, move it up and down to ensure it is not jammed by ice or debris.
- Inspect sensor alignment: Make sure the sensor pair faces each other directly and that brackets are not bent.
- Power cycle: Plug the unit back in and see if the ICE FULL indicator clears. If it remains on with an empty bin, replace the ice full sensor assembly.
