Possible Causes

Dirty evaporator surface, High ambient room temperature, Low refrigerant charge, Poor airflow around condenser

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning internal metal surfaces.

  • Improve environment: Move the ice maker to a cooler room away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ensure good clearance around vents.
  • Clean evaporator: With the unit unplugged, gently wipe the metal evaporator fingers or plate with a soft cloth dampened with warm water. Remove any film or scale that can insulate the surface.
  • Clean condenser and fan: Vacuum dust from the rear/bottom vents and fan area to improve cooling efficiency.
  • Use cooler water: Fill the reservoir with cool, filtered water. Very warm tap water will reduce ice quality.
  • Test again: Run several cycles and compare ice size. If ice remains very small and the evaporator does not frost evenly, a sealed system issue may exist and professional service is recommended.
