Possible Causes

Defective ambient NTC temperature sensor on side wall, Broken or loose sensor wiring harness, Corroded sensor connector on main control board, Failed main control board sensor input circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Kismile ice maker before opening any panels. Do not work on the unit while it is connected to power.

  • Power reset: Unplug the ice maker for 10 minutes, then plug it back in and try again. Sometimes E1 is a temporary sensor reading error.
  • Check installation location: Ensure the unit is not placed in direct sunlight or near a stove or dishwasher. Excessive heat can cause abnormal ambient sensor readings.
  • Inspect ambient sensor: Remove the rear or side service panel (depending on model). Locate the small NTC sensor clipped to the inner side wall or near the air intake labeled as "TEMP" or with two thin wires. Check for broken insulation, pinched wires, or corrosion at the connector.
  • Reconnect wiring: Disconnect and firmly reconnect the sensor plug at the main control board. Look for bent pins or moisture on the connector and dry it if needed.
  • Test sensor (advanced): With the unit unplugged, remove the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature (20–25°C), most Kismile NTC sensors read between 5–20 kΩ. If it is open (infinite) or shorted (near 0 Ω), replace the sensor.
  • Replace sensor if faulty: Install a compatible Kismile ambient temperature sensor, route the wires along the original path, and secure with clips or tape to avoid contact with moving parts.
  • If E1 persists: The main control board sensor circuit may be defective. At this point, contact Kismile support or a qualified technician to test and replace the control board.
