Possible Causes
Stuck mechanical float in water reservoir, Faulty water level sensor or reed switch, Mineral buildup on float guide, Damaged wiring between float sensor and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker before removing the top cover or reservoir parts.
- Empty and clean reservoir: Remove the ice basket and drain any water using the drain plug. Rinse the reservoir with warm water and a small amount of white vinegar to dissolve mineral deposits.
- Free the float: Locate the plastic float or water level sensor assembly in the reservoir. Move it up and down gently to ensure it moves freely. If it is stuck, clean around the guide tube and pivot points.
- Descale components: Soak the float and its guide in a 1:1 vinegar and warm water solution for 15–20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
- Check wiring: Inspect the two-wire harness from the float sensor to the control board for cuts, pinches, or loose connectors. Reseat the connector on the board.
- Test operation: Refill the reservoir to the MAX line with clean water, reinstall the ice basket, plug in the unit, and restart. If E2 clears, monitor for normal operation.
- Replace sensor if needed: If E2 returns and the float moves freely, replace the water level sensor/float switch assembly with a compatible Kismile part.
