Possible Causes
Blocked infrared ice-full sensor window, Misaligned ice-full sensor and receiver, Failed optical sensor board, Loose sensor wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker before cleaning or adjusting sensors.
- Clear obstructions: Remove the ice basket and check the area near the front of the evaporator where the ice-full sensor is located. Remove any ice chunks or frost blocking the sensor windows.
- Clean sensor lenses: Use a soft cloth slightly dampened with water to gently wipe the transmitter and receiver windows. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Check alignment: Ensure the sensor boards on each side of the ice basket opening are firmly seated and facing each other directly. Adjust or tighten mounting screws if they are loose.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the control board. Confirm that connectors are fully inserted and that no wires are pinched by the cabinet panels.
- Test without ice: With the unit reassembled and powered, start a cycle with an empty basket. If E4 clears and the unit runs, monitor until the basket fills to confirm proper shutoff.
- Replace sensor module: If E4 returns and lenses are clean and aligned, replace the ice-full sensor assembly (transmitter and receiver) with a Kismile-compatible part.
