Possible Causes
Corrupted control board firmware, Loose multi-pin connector on PCB, Moisture or corrosion on control board, Internal failure of microcontroller
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Always unplug the ice maker before touching the control board.
- Hard reset: Unplug the unit for at least 15 minutes to fully discharge the control board. Plug back in and check if E6 clears.
- Inspect control board: Remove the top or side panel to access the PCB. Look for signs of moisture, corrosion, or burnt components.
- Dry and clean: If you see condensation or minor corrosion, gently dry the area with a hair dryer on low (no high heat) and clean corrosion with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush.
- Check connectors: Reseat all multi-pin connectors to the board, ensuring they are fully latched and oriented correctly.
- Secure mounting: Make sure the board is firmly mounted and not flexing, which can stress solder joints.
- Replace board: If E6 persists after reset and inspection, replace the main control board with a Kismile-compatible PCB. Transfer any wiring one connector at a time to avoid miswiring.
