How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before deep cleaning.

  • Drain and clean: Empty the reservoir and ice basket. Wash them with warm water and mild dish soap, then rinse thoroughly.
  • Descale and sanitize: Fill the reservoir with a mixture of water and white vinegar (per Kismile instructions) and run a cleaning cycle. Rinse with two full reservoirs of clean water afterward.
  • Use filtered water: Switch to filtered or bottled water to reduce odors and mineral content.
  • Air out new unit: For new ice makers, discard the first several batches of ice to allow plastic odors to dissipate.
