Possible Causes
Closed household shutoff valve, kinked copper or braided water line, failed water inlet valve coil, frozen inlet line inside cabinet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and water supply before disconnecting lines.
- Verify shutoff valve: Confirm the saddle or angle stop valve feeding the KitchenAid ice maker is fully open.
- Inspect water line: Look for kinks, sharp bends, or crushed sections in the supply tubing. Replace damaged line.
- Check for freezing: If the unit is in a cold location, inspect the inlet area for ice. Thaw gently with warm towels; do not use open flame.
- Test inlet valve coil: Disconnect the valve and measure coil resistance. An open coil indicates a failed valve that must be replaced.
- Replace valve: Install a new OEM KitchenAid water inlet valve, using thread sealant where specified. Turn water back on and check for leaks.
