KitchenAid
Reduced Ice Production
Ice maker makes ice very slowly; production is much lower than normal
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Dirty condenser coil, high ambient room temperature, partially restricted water filter, weak compressor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before cleaning or servicing.
- Clean condenser: Pull the KitchenAid ice maker away from the wall and vacuum the condenser coil. Use a brush to remove stubborn dust.
- Check room temperature: Ensure the unit is installed in a room within the specified temperature range. Excessive heat will reduce ice output.
- Replace water filter: A partially clogged filter can reduce water flow and slow production. Install a new OEM filter.
- Allow time: After cleaning and filter replacement, allow 24 hours for production to stabilize. If output remains low, a technician should evaluate the sealed system.
