Possible Causes
Insufficient water in reservoir, Blocked water inlet filter, Kinked or pinched water hose (plumbed-in models), Faulty water level sensor in reservoir
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Klarstein ice maker from the mains before opening any panels or reaching inside. Do not work on the unit while it is connected to power or water.
- Check water level: Remove the reservoir cover and ensure the water level is between the MIN and MAX marks. Top up with clean, potable water. Do not overfill.
- Reset the unit: After filling, power the unit off for 2–3 minutes, then turn it back on and press the ON/START button to clear the E1 code.
- Inspect inlet hose (if plumbed-in Klarstein model): Make sure the water hose is not kinked or crushed behind the appliance. Straighten the hose and ensure the tap is fully open.
- Clean inlet filter: If your Klarstein model has a screw-on water inlet, close the tap, unscrew the hose, and gently remove and rinse the small mesh filter under running water. Reinstall and check for leaks.
- Check water level sensor: With the unit unplugged, locate the float or water level probe in the reservoir. Clean off any limescale or slime with a soft brush and mild vinegar solution, then rinse thoroughly. A stuck float can falsely trigger E1.
If E1 persists after these steps, the water level sensor or control board may be defective and should be tested and replaced by a qualified technician.
