Possible Causes

Blocked infrared ice-full sensor, Misaligned ice bin or ice shovel, Faulty optical sensor board, Loose wiring to ice-full sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the ice maker from power before touching internal components.

  • Empty the ice basket: Remove all ice from the storage bin and check if the E2 code clears after restarting. Overfilled bins can block the sensor.
  • Clean the ice-full sensor: Many Klarstein models use an infrared sensor pair near the top of the ice bin. Wipe both the emitter and receiver windows with a soft, damp cloth to remove frost, dust, or mineral film. Dry thoroughly.
  • Check bin position: Ensure the ice basket is seated correctly and not pushing against the sensor or ice shovel. Reinstall it fully to the back of the compartment.
  • Inspect wiring: With the unit unplugged, gently check the connector going to the ice-full sensor board for looseness or corrosion. Reseat the plug firmly.

If E2 remains, the ice-full sensor module or main PCB may be faulty and should be diagnosed with a multimeter by a service professional.
