Possible Causes

Open or shorted evaporator NTC sensor, Disconnected thermistor harness, Corroded sensor connector, Faulty control PCB temperature input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Klarstein ice maker before removing covers. Avoid touching sharp metal edges around the evaporator.

  • Power reset: Disconnect power for 5 minutes, then reconnect and try to start a new ice cycle. Temporary glitches can sometimes clear.
  • Inspect sensor wiring: Access the evaporator area (usually behind the ice-making tray). Locate the small probe clipped to the evaporator or tray. Check that its cable is not cut, pinched, or disconnected from the main board.
  • Check for corrosion: Examine the thermistor connector on the PCB for signs of moisture or corrosion. If present, clean gently with contact cleaner and reconnect.
  • Test sensor (advanced): If you have a multimeter and the service manual, measure the resistance of the NTC sensor at room temperature and compare to spec. A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a bad sensor.

Persistent E3 usually requires replacement of the evaporator temperature sensor or, less commonly, the main control board.
