Possible Causes

Blocked condenser coil, Failed condenser fan motor, High ambient temperature around unit, Refrigerant system fault causing overpressure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning or moving it. Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system yourself.

  • Improve ventilation: Ensure at least 15–20 cm clearance around all sides and the rear of the Klarstein ice maker. Do not place it inside cabinets or against walls.
  • Clean condenser: Access the rear or side grille and gently vacuum dust from the condenser coil. Use a soft brush to remove stubborn dirt without bending fins.
  • Check condenser fan: With the cover removed (if accessible), plug in briefly and observe whether the fan starts when the compressor runs. If the fan does not spin or is noisy, unplug immediately and replace the fan motor.
  • Reduce ambient heat: Move the ice maker away from ovens, radiators, or direct sunlight. High room temperature can trigger E4.

If E4 recurs despite good airflow and a working fan, the compressor or refrigerant circuit may be faulty. This requires a certified refrigeration technician.
