Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Klarstein ice maker before inspection. Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system yourself.
- Check basic operation: Turn the unit on and listen: you should hear the compressor and fan start within a few minutes. If only the fan runs or nothing runs, note this behavior.
- Inspect condenser and fan: Clean dust from the condenser coil and verify that the fan spins freely and runs when powered. Replace the fan motor if seized or dead.
- Feel evaporator: After 10–15 minutes of operation, carefully touch the metal evaporator grid (inside the ice-making area). It should be very cold and may frost. If it remains warm, the compressor or refrigerant system is likely faulty.
- Check ambient temperature: Ensure the room is within the operating range (typically 10–32°C). Very high temperatures can prevent ice formation.
If the compressor runs but the evaporator never gets cold, a sealed-system issue (refrigerant leak, blocked capillary, or failed compressor) is likely and requires a refrigeration technician.
