Possible Causes

Hard water supply, Infrequent descaling, Using unfiltered tap water in high-mineral areas

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Klarstein ice maker before descaling.

  • Prepare descaling solution: Mix a food-safe descaler or white vinegar with water according to the product instructions.
  • Soak and wipe: Fill the reservoir with the solution and use a soft cloth to wipe the evaporator, tray, and internal surfaces. Allow contact time to dissolve scale.
  • Rinse thoroughly: Drain the solution, refill with clean water, and run at least one full cycle. Discard the first batch of ice.
  • Use filtered water: In hard water areas, use filtered or softened water to reduce future scale buildup.

Severe scale that cannot be removed may require replacement of the evaporator or water system components.
