How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the unit and shut off water before servicing.
Steps to address E10:
- Manual defrost: Remove ice from the bin and leave the unit unplugged with the door open for several hours to melt any ice buildup on the evaporator.
- Clean evaporator: Once thawed, clean the evaporator plate with a soft cloth and a 1:1 mixture of warm water and white vinegar to remove mineral scale.
- Check hot gas valve / heater: Access the valve or heater assembly (model-dependent) and inspect wiring and connectors. Test coil or heater resistance with a multimeter; replace if open.
- Inspect control board: Look for burnt components or loose connectors on the main control board.
- Replace faulty component: Install a new Koldfront-compatible hot gas valve or defrost heater if testing indicates failure.
- Test operation: Restore power and water, then run several cycles to confirm proper ice release and that E10 does not return.
