Possible Causes
Failed drain pump motor, clogged drain hose, blocked drain inlet, defective drain level sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the unit before working on the drain system.
Steps to address E20:
- Check drain hose: Inspect the external drain hose for kinks, clogs, or elevation higher than recommended. Clear any obstructions.
- Inspect drain inlet: Open the bin and locate the internal drain opening. Remove any ice or debris blocking it.
- Access drain pump: Remove the lower front or rear panel to reach the drain pump assembly.
- Clean pump: Disconnect the pump and check the impeller for debris. Clean thoroughly.
- Test pump motor: Measure motor resistance; an open circuit indicates a failed pump.
- Replace pump: Install a new Koldfront-compatible drain pump if defective, reconnect hoses and wiring, and check for leaks.
- Test cycle: Restore power and run a cycle to confirm proper draining and that E20 is cleared.
