Possible Causes
Blocked condenser airflow, dirty condenser coil, failed condenser fan, ambient temperature too high for installation location
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the unit before cleaning or servicing.
Steps to address E8:
- Check installation: Ensure the ice maker has adequate clearance around the sides and back (per Koldfront manual) for proper ventilation. Move it away from walls or heat sources if necessary.
- Clean condenser coil: Remove the rear panel and use a soft brush or vacuum to clean dust and lint from the condenser coil fins.
- Verify fan operation: Confirm the condenser fan runs when the compressor is on. If not, see fan motor troubleshooting (E7).
- Ambient temperature: Make sure the unit is not installed in a garage or outdoor area where temperatures exceed the specified operating range.
- Reset and test: After cleaning and improving airflow, unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes to reset, then plug back in and monitor operation.
Note: Persistent E8 after airflow and fan issues are corrected may indicate a faulty temperature sensor or control board, which may require professional diagnosis.
