Possible Causes
Failed harvest motor, jammed ice ejector arm, broken gear in harvest assembly, wiring issue between motor and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the ice maker before working near moving parts.
Steps to resolve E9:
- Inspect ice area: Open the ice-making compartment and look for jammed or fused ice blocking the ejector arm or harvest rake. Remove any stuck ice carefully.
- Check ejector arm movement: Gently move the ejector arm or rake by hand (with power off). It should move with some resistance but not be completely stuck.
- Access harvest motor: Remove the front cover of the ice-making assembly to expose the harvest motor and gear train.
- Inspect gears: Look for stripped or broken plastic gears. Replace the harvest motor assembly if gears are damaged.
- Test motor: With the unit unplugged, measure motor resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Replace harvest motor assembly: Disconnect wiring, remove mounting screws, and install a new Koldfront-compatible harvest motor/gear assembly. Reconnect wiring and reassemble covers.
- Test cycle: Restore power and run a full cycle to confirm proper harvest and that E9 is cleared.
