Possible Causes
Compressor relay failure, Inverter PCB fault (on linear compressor models), Loose compressor wiring, Main control board failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: High voltage present. Unplug the refrigerator before accessing compressor components. Do not attempt sealed system repairs without proper certification.
- Check for power reset: Unplug the unit for 5 minutes and plug back in. Sometimes ER 22 can clear after a reset if caused by a transient fault.
- Listen for compressor: After power is restored, listen at the back for the compressor starting. Clicking or humming without running suggests a start device issue.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the rear lower cover and inspect the compressor wiring and inverter/relay module for loose connections or burn marks.
- Replace start device/inverter: If the start device or inverter PCB is visibly damaged or tests bad, replace it with the correct LG part.
- Technician service: If the compressor does not start with a known-good start device/inverter, the compressor or main PCB may be defective and requires professional diagnosis.
