How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing the evaporator area.
- Inspect evaporator: Remove the freezer rear panel and check if the evaporator coil is heavily iced over.
- Manual defrost: Unplug and fully defrost the unit to restore temporary operation.
- Test heater and thermostat: With a multimeter, check continuity of the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. Replace any open components.
- Check thermistor: Measure resistance of the freezer thermistor and compare to LG specs. Replace if out of range.
- Control board: If all defrost components test good, the main PCB may not be initiating defrost and may need replacement.
