Possible Causes

Ice auger motor jammed, Ice cubes stuck in auger, Auger motor winding failure, Motor driver circuit fault on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before working on the ice bin or auger motor.

  • Remove ice bin: Pull out the ice bin and inspect the auger for jammed or clumped ice. Break up clumps and discard fused ice.
  • Check auger rotation: Turn the auger by hand. It should rotate smoothly. If seized, thaw the bin or replace the bin assembly if damaged.
  • Inspect motor: Access the auger motor behind the freezer door or in the door (for door-mounted ice). Check for burnt smell or visible damage.
  • Test motor: With a multimeter, test auger motor windings for continuity. Replace the motor if open or shorted.
  • Control board: If the motor and wiring are good but ER 35 persists, the main PCB motor driver may be faulty and require replacement.
