Possible Causes
Ice level sensor blocked or dirty, Ice level arm stuck, Sensor failure in ice maker, Control board not reading sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the refrigerator before working on the ice maker.
- Clean sensor: For optical sensors, clean the emitter and receiver windows with a soft cloth. For mechanical arms, ensure they move freely.
- Check for obstruction: Make sure ice cubes are not wedged against the sensor or arm, preventing proper movement.
- Test function: Manually move the ice level arm (if present) and listen for a click. If no click or resistance, replace the ice maker.
- Replace sensor/ice maker: If cleaning and freeing movement does not restore proper shutoff, replace the ice maker assembly or sensor module.
