Possible Causes
Failed position sensor or microswitch, Jammed ejector arm, Broken cam or gear inside ice maker, Loose mounting causing misalignment
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before touching the ice maker mechanism.
- Remove ice bin: Take out the bin and inspect the ejector arm and tray for stuck cubes or foreign objects.
- Free the mechanism: If cubes are wedged between the ejector fingers and the ice mold, gently remove them by hand. Avoid forcing the arm.
- Check mounting: Ensure the ice maker is firmly mounted to its brackets and not sagging. Tighten mounting screws if loose.
- Manual rotation test: With power off, gently move the ejector arm a small distance. If it feels gritty or binds, internal components may be damaged.
- Power up and test: Restore power and initiate a test cycle if available. If E1 returns immediately, the position sensor or internal switch is likely faulty and the ice maker assembly should be replaced.
