Possible Causes
Water inlet valve clogged or defective, External water supply shut off or low pressure, Liebherr water filter clogged, Frozen or kinked water inlet line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from mains power and close the household water shutoff valve before working on the water line.
- Check external water supply: Verify the household shutoff valve to the Liebherr ice maker is fully open. Confirm water pressure is at least 2 bar (30 psi). If pressure is low, contact a plumber.
- Inspect water inlet hose: Pull the appliance forward carefully, ensuring you do not damage the copper or braided water line. Check for kinks, crushing, or sharp bends. Straighten or replace the line if damaged.
- Check for freezing in inlet line: Feel along the water line inside the freezer compartment (if visible). If it is frozen, defrost the unit by turning it off and leaving the door open for several hours, protecting the floor from melt water. Afterwards, verify door gaskets seal properly to prevent re-freezing.
- Replace or bypass water filter: If your Liebherr model uses an internal or external water filter, replace it with a genuine Liebherr filter. Some models allow a filter bypass plug; install it temporarily to test water flow.
- Test water inlet valve: Restore power and water, then activate the ice maker test mode (refer to the service manual). Listen for the valve click and water flow. If the valve does not open or only hums, it is likely defective and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
