Possible Causes
Defective ice maker fill sensor, Mineral buildup on fill sensor, Faulty ice maker module PCB, Loose wiring harness to ice maker assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before accessing the ice maker assembly.
- Inspect ice maker area: Remove the ice bin to access the ice maker. Check for ice bridging or clumps blocking the fill area. Break up and discard clumped ice.
- Clean fill sensor and tray: On many Liebherr ice makers, a small sensor or probe monitors water level. Using a soft cloth and warm water with mild detergent, gently clean any mineral deposits or slime from the sensor and ice tray. Do not use sharp tools.
- Check wiring harness: Locate the connector from the ice maker to the freezer wiring harness. Ensure it is fully seated and free of corrosion or moisture. Reseat the connector several times to improve contact.
- Reset the ice maker: Restore power and use the control panel to turn the ice maker OFF for 5 minutes, then ON again. Some models have a mechanical test button on the ice maker module; press it to initiate a test cycle and observe operation.
- If F2 persists: The fill sensor or ice maker module PCB is likely defective. Replacement of the complete ice maker assembly is recommended and should be done by a trained technician.
