Possible Causes

Defective NTC temperature sensor in ice maker, Broken or pinched sensor wiring, Connector corrosion at ice maker harness, Control board misreading sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before removing covers or panels.

  • Check freezer temperature: Confirm the freezer is actually reaching the set temperature (typically -18°C). If the entire freezer is warm, the issue may be with the main refrigeration system rather than the ice maker sensor.
  • Inspect sensor wiring: Access the ice maker by removing the ice bin and any decorative covers. Locate the small sensor wire harness leading from the ice maker to the cabinet. Look for cuts, pinches, or signs of rodent damage. Repair or replace damaged wiring.
  • Check connectors: Unplug and replug the sensor connector at both the ice maker and the main harness. Look for corrosion or moisture; dry gently if needed.
  • Reset control: After inspection, restore power and clear the error by turning the ice maker OFF and ON or by disconnecting power for 5 minutes. If F3 returns quickly, the NTC sensor is likely out of range and the ice maker assembly usually must be replaced.
