Possible Causes
Dirty or blocked ice level sensor window, Failed infrared emitter/receiver pair, Misaligned ice bin, Loose sensor wiring to control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before cleaning sensor components.
- Locate level sensor: Many Liebherr ice makers use an infrared sensor pair on the side walls above the ice bin. Identify the small plastic windows or lenses.
- Clean sensor windows: Using a soft cloth slightly dampened with warm water, gently wipe the sensor windows on both sides. Remove frost, dust, or mineral residue. Dry thoroughly.
- Check bin position: Reinstall the ice bin fully, ensuring it is seated correctly and not tilted. A misaligned bin can block the sensor beam and simulate a full-bin condition.
- Inspect for obstructions: Make sure no packaging, labels, or foreign objects are blocking the sensor path.
- Reset ice maker: Restore power and toggle the ice maker OFF and ON. If F5 persists, the sensor module or wiring is likely defective and may require replacement of the sensor assembly or main control board.
