Possible Causes
Slow drip from inlet valve causing gradual freeze, Freezer temperature set too low, Air leak near fill tube, Poor insulation around fill tube
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before defrosting the fill tube.
- Access fill tube: Remove the ice bin and any cover to expose the fill tube above the ice maker.
- Thaw the tube: Use a turkey baster or syringe with warm (not boiling) water to melt the ice inside the tube until water flows freely.
- Check for dripping: With the unit still unplugged but water supply on, observe the tube for any slow dripping. If present, the inlet valve is leaking and must be replaced.
- Inspect door seal: Ensure the gasket near the ice maker area is intact to prevent cold air overcooling the tube.
- Adjust temperature: Avoid setting the freezer excessively cold; -18°C is usually sufficient.
