Possible Causes

Old or saturated Liebherr water filter, Stagnant water in supply line, Contaminated ice bin, Odors from food in freezer absorbed by ice

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Use only potable water for the ice maker.

  • Discard old ice: Empty the ice bin completely and wash it with warm water and mild dish soap. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • Replace water filter: Install a new genuine Liebherr filter if it is older than recommended.
  • Flush water line: If there is a water dispenser, run several liters of water to flush the line. If not, discard the first 3–4 batches of new ice.
  • Control food odors: Store strong-smelling foods in sealed containers. Clean the freezer interior with a baking soda solution if odors are present.
  • Monitor: If taste issues persist, have the household water tested for contaminants or consider an external filtration system.
