Possible Causes
Misadjusted ice thickness probe, Failed thickness sensor, Scale buildup on probe, Loose sensor wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before adjusting or cleaning the thickness probe.
- Locate thickness probe: The probe is usually a metal or plastic arm that contacts the ice slab on the evaporator plate.
- Clean the probe: Remove mineral scale with a soft cloth and a mixture of warm water and white vinegar. Do not use abrasive pads that can damage the surface.
- Check adjustment: Verify that the probe is set to the factory‑recommended distance from the evaporator plate. Adjust according to the service manual if necessary.
- Inspect wiring: Ensure the probe's wiring harness is intact and firmly connected to the control board.
- Replace if faulty: If cleaning and adjustment do not resolve E14 and ice thickness remains erratic, replace the ice thickness sensor/probe assembly.
