Possible Causes
Failed touch control panel, Moisture intrusion behind keypad, Loose ribbon cable between UI and main board, Cracked control overlay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before removing the control panel.
- Dry the panel: If the panel recently got wet, allow it to dry completely for several hours with the unit unplugged.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the front bezel to access the user interface board. Reseat the ribbon cable connecting the UI to the main control board.
- Check for damage: Look for cracks in the overlay, corrosion on connectors, or burn marks on the UI PCB.
- Test buttons: With power restored, test each button. If some or all buttons are unresponsive and E15 persists, the UI panel is likely defective.
- Replace UI assembly: Install a new Magic Chef control panel or keypad assembly. Transfer any decorative trim as needed and reconnect the ribbon cable securely.
