Possible Causes

Dirty or scaled water level probe, Disconnected or damaged probe wiring, Failed water level sensor, Faulty control board input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and close the water supply valve. Use only Manitowoc‑approved cleaner on water system components.

Steps:

  • Access water trough: Remove front panel and any covers over the water trough or sump.
  • Clean water level probe: Locate the water level probe assembly (often a stainless rod or plastic assembly). Remove mineral scale using ice machine cleaner and a soft brush. Do not sand or scratch the probe.
  • Check wiring: Inspect the probe harness for loose connections or damage. Reseat the connector at the control board.
  • Verify water quality: Extremely hard water can cause rapid scale buildup. Consider installing or replacing a Manitowoc‑approved water filter or softening system.
  • Replace probe if needed: If cleaning and wiring checks do not clear E06, replace the water level probe / sensor assembly.

Note: After service, run a full clean and sanitize cycle and verify proper fill and shutoff behavior.
