Safety first: Disconnect power. Water may be present; use appropriate containers and towels. Avoid chemical drain openers inside the machine.

Steps:

• Inspect external drain: Ensure the drain hose from the Manitowoc ice maker to the building drain is not kinked, elevated too high, or submerged in standing water. Correct slope to allow gravity drainage.
• Clear internal drain: Remove the front panel and access the drain outlet from the sump or bin. Remove any ice, debris, or scale buildup.
• Check drain pump (if installed): For models with an optional drain pump, remove the pump cover and inspect for obstructions. Clean the pump reservoir and impeller.
• Test pump operation: Restore power and run a test cycle. Listen for the pump running during drain. If it hums but does not move water, or is silent, replace the drain pump assembly.
