Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power. Allow any heavy ice buildup to melt or be removed carefully to avoid damaging components.
Steps:
- Locate anti‑freeze sensor: On some Manitowoc models, an anti‑freeze or safety sensor is attached to suction lines or specific tubing to prevent over‑freezing. Refer to the service manual.
- Check mounting: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the correct line and not dangling or insulated by heavy ice.
- Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires to the control board, checking for cuts, pinches, or loose connectors. Reseat connectors.
- Test sensor: Measure resistance and compare to the temperature chart. Replace the anti‑freeze / safety temperature sensor if readings are out of range.
Note: If sensor replacement does not clear E14, the main control board may be misreading the sensor and require replacement.
