Possible Causes

Overheated compressor due to dirty condenser, Failed condenser fan motor, High ambient temperature, Failing compressor drawing high current

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power. The compressor and nearby lines can be very hot; allow cooling before touching.

Steps:

  • Clean condenser coil: Remove front or side panels to access the condenser. Brush and vacuum thoroughly; use coil cleaner if needed.
  • Check condenser fan: Spin the fan blade by hand (power off). It should move freely. If stiff or noisy, replace the condenser fan motor.
  • Verify ventilation: Ensure the Manitowoc unit has proper clearance and is not installed in a confined, unventilated space. Correct any airflow restrictions.
  • Allow cool‑down: Let the unit sit powered off for 30–60 minutes to allow the compressor overload to reset, then restart and monitor.

When to call a technician: If E15 recurs quickly after cleaning and improving airflow, the compressor may be failing or the system may be overcharged. A refrigeration technician should measure amp draw and pressures.
