Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the control compartment.

Steps:

Locate ambient sensor: Typically mounted near the air intake or in the control compartment where it senses room air.
Check placement: Ensure the sensor is not touching hot components or enclosed in insulation; it should sense room air.
Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor leads to the control board, checking for damage or loose connectors. Reseat connectors.
Test sensor: Measure resistance and compare to the temperature chart. Replace the ambient temperature sensor if out of spec.

Note: If a new sensor does not resolve E18, the main control board may be defective.

E18 displayed, unit may not detect ambient temperature correctly, affecting cycle timing.
