Possible Causes
Scaled evaporator surface, Weak or stuck hot gas valve, Incorrect ice thickness setting, Low water temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power. Avoid prying ice off the evaporator with sharp tools to prevent damage.
Steps:
- Descale evaporator: Run a full cleaning cycle with Manitowoc cleaner, focusing on the evaporator plate. Scale greatly increases sticking.
- Adjust thickness probe: Reduce the ice thickness setting slightly so the sheet is not excessively thick.
- Check hot gas valve operation: During harvest (requires powered test), feel the discharge line to confirm hot gas flow. If the valve does not energize, have the hot gas valve coil and control checked.
- Verify water temperature: Extremely cold inlet water can slow harvest; ensure water supply is within spec.
