Possible Causes
Stuck water level float, scaled water level sensor, defective water level switch, wiring harness issue
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and shut off the water supply before working on the water system.
Steps to inspect the water level system:
- Remove the ice bin and any interior panels necessary to access the water reservoir.
- Locate the water level float or electronic water level sensor in the reservoir.
- Check for mineral scale, slime, or debris that may be preventing the float from moving freely. Clean the reservoir and float with warm water and a mild, non‑abrasive cleaner or a nickel‑safe ice machine cleaner.
- Move the float up and down by hand to ensure it moves smoothly and returns to its resting position.
- Inspect the wiring to the water level switch/sensor for corrosion or loose connections. Reseat connectors firmly.
- If the float or switch is cracked, waterlogged, or does not change state when moved (test with a multimeter for continuity), replace it with a Marvel‑specified water level sensor/float switch.
- Reassemble, restore water and power, and verify that the E5 code clears and the unit fills and starts a freeze cycle.
