Possible Causes
Failed ice thickness sensor, misadjusted thickness probe, scale buildup on probe, damaged harness, control board input failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before working near the evaporator or harvest mechanism.
Inspection and cleaning:
- Remove the ice bin to expose the evaporator plate and harvest area.
- Locate the ice thickness sensor or probe (often a small metal or plastic arm or probe that contacts the ice slab to determine thickness).
- Inspect the probe for heavy scale or slime. Clean it thoroughly with a nickel‑safe ice machine cleaner and rinse with clean water.
- Verify that the probe is positioned according to Marvel specifications (correct distance from the evaporator plate). If it is bent or out of place, gently adjust it back to the proper position.
- Check the wiring harness from the sensor to the control board for damage or loose connectors.
- If the sensor is cracked, corroded, or fails continuity/voltage tests per the service manual, replace it with a Marvel ice thickness sensor.
- Restore power and run a test cycle to confirm that the unit now harvests properly and that E6 does not reappear.
