Possible Causes
Failed water inlet valve coil, clogged inlet screen, low water pressure, stuck valve, wiring issue to valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and close the water supply shutoff valve before servicing the inlet valve.
Steps:
- Pull the unit out enough to access the rear where the water line connects to the Marvel ice maker.
- Disconnect the water supply line and inspect the inlet screen on the valve for sediment or debris. Clean or replace the screen as needed.
- Verify that household water pressure to the unit is adequate (typically 20–120 psi). Correct any supply issues.
- Remove the access panel to expose the water inlet valve. Inspect for signs of leakage or corrosion.
- With power disconnected, test the valve coil resistance with a multimeter. Compare to Marvel specifications. Replace the valve if the coil is open or shorted.
- Restore power and, using caution, check that the valve receives proper voltage when the unit calls for fill. If it has voltage but does not open, replace the valve.
- After installing a new Marvel water inlet valve, reconnect the water line, check for leaks, and run a test cycle to confirm proper filling and that E9 clears.
