Possible Causes

Failed main control board, loose or damaged wire harness at control, blown internal fuse on control board, faulty user interface panel

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker or switch off the circuit breaker before removing any panels. Use a non-contact voltage tester to confirm power is off.

  • Check power supply: Verify the outlet has 120 VAC using a multimeter. If no power, check the household breaker and reset if tripped.
  • Inspect power cord: Pull the unit out carefully and inspect the Maytag power cord for cuts, burns, or kinks. Replace if damaged.
  • Access control panel: Remove the top or front control panel screws (usually from the back or underside). Gently pull the panel forward.
  • Check wire harness: Confirm all harness plugs are fully seated on the main control board and user interface board. Look for corrosion or burnt pins; clean light corrosion with contact cleaner.
  • Inspect board fuse: Some Maytag ice maker control boards have a small onboard fuse. If visibly blown and not soldered in, replace with the same rating. If it blows again, the board or another component is shorted.
  • Test user interface: If the unit has power (indicator light on board) but the display is dead, disconnect and reconnect the UI harness. If still dead, the user interface panel is likely faulty.
  • Replace control board: If there is proper line voltage to the board but no output to the UI or components, replace the main control board following the service manual, transferring each connector one at a time.
