Ice maker shows drain error, water remains in reservoir or sump

Safety first: Disconnect power before working near water and electrical components. Shut off water supply.

• Inspect drain hose: Locate the drain hose at the back or bottom of the Maytag ice maker. Check for kinks, sags, or clogs. Remove and flush the hose with hot water if blocked.
• Check drain height: Ensure the drain hose does not rise higher than the maximum height specified by Maytag. Incorrect routing can prevent proper draining.
• Verify floor drain: Pour water directly into the floor drain to confirm it is not clogged. Clear any blockage if necessary.
• Test drain pump (if equipped): Access the drain pump behind the lower panel. Check for debris in the pump housing. With power restored briefly, listen for pump operation. If the pump hums but does not move water, or is silent, replace it.
• Secure connections: Reattach the hose firmly to the pump and drain outlet, using clamps to prevent leaks.
