Possible Causes
Clogged internal drain line, Blocked drain pump inlet, Failed drain pump motor, Faulty drain level sensor stuck in "full" position
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker before servicing the drain system.
- Check external drain: Ensure the external drain hose is not kinked, elevated too high, or blocked at the floor drain.
- Inspect internal drain: Remove panels to access the internal drain pump and tubing. Look for clogs from scale, ice chips, or debris at the pump inlet.
- Clean tubing: Detach the drain hose from the pump and flush it with warm water to clear obstructions.
- Test pump: With the unit unplugged, check if the pump impeller spins freely. If it is jammed or the housing is cracked, the pump is likely bad.
- Check drain level sensor: Some Midea models use a float or sensor in the drain sump. Make sure it moves freely and is not stuck by slime or scale.
- Replace components: Replace the drain pump or drain level sensor if they fail mechanical or electrical tests. Reassemble and test for proper draining.
