Possible Causes

Seized harvest motor, Broken motor gear, Obstructed ice tray movement, Faulty motor wiring or connector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before touching any moving parts.

  • Check for mechanical obstruction: Open the ice-making compartment and look for jammed ice pieces, foreign objects, or misaligned ice tray that could block movement.
  • Free the tray: Carefully remove loose ice and reposition the tray so it sits correctly on its pivots or rails.
  • Inspect harvest motor: Locate the harvest or tray motor (usually mounted to the side or rear of the ice tray assembly). Check for cracked housing or stripped gears.
  • Test motor rotation: With power disconnected, gently try to rotate the motor shaft or tray gear by hand. It should move with some resistance but not be locked solid.
  • Check wiring: Ensure the motor connector is firmly attached to the PCB and wires are not pinched.
  • Component replacement: If the motor is seized or gears are damaged, replace the harvest motor assembly with a Midea-compatible part. If the motor tests good but E6 persists, the control board output may be faulty and should be evaluated by a technician.
