Possible Causes
Clogged pump inlet screen, Seized circulation pump, Airlock in water circuit, Broken pump impeller or motor winding failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker and shut off water supply.
- Locate the pump: The circulation pump is usually mounted near the water reservoir, with hoses leading to the evaporator spray bar or distribution tube.
- Check for clogs: Remove the pump inlet screen or filter and clean out any debris, scale, or slime. Flush the reservoir with clean water.
- Inspect hoses: Ensure water hoses are not kinked or frozen. Straighten any sharp bends.
- Test pump movement: With power disconnected, remove the pump and try to spin the impeller with a small tool. It should move freely. If it is stuck, mineral buildup may have seized it.
- Descale if lightly stuck: Soak the pump housing and impeller in a descaling solution to dissolve mineral deposits, then rinse thoroughly.
- Replace pump: If the pump is burned, cracked, or still seized after cleaning, install a new Midea circulation pump assembly. Reconnect hoses securely and check for leaks on restart.
