Possible Causes
Closed or kinked water supply line, Clogged inlet water filter screen, Defective Miele water inlet valve, Frozen water line inside freezer door or cabinet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off the water supply to the appliance and disconnect power before working on the water system.
- Check external water supply: Ensure the shutoff valve to the Miele ice maker is fully open. Straighten any kinks in the copper or braided hose.
- Test water pressure: Disconnect the line at the back of the appliance and briefly open the valve into a bucket. You should see a strong, steady flow. Weak flow indicates a plumbing issue.
- Inspect inlet valve screen: Remove the water line from the Miele inlet valve. Use a flashlight to inspect the small mesh screen. If clogged with debris, gently clean with a soft brush and rinse.
- Check for frozen line: Feel along the internal water line (often routed through the freezer section). If very hard and frosty, it may be frozen. Defrost the unit by turning it off and leaving the door open for several hours, protecting floors from water.
- Electrical test (advanced): With power restored and using a multimeter, verify that the inlet valve coil receives voltage when the ice maker calls for water. If voltage is present but no water flows, replace the inlet valve.
Warning: Do not apply external heat (hair dryer, heat gun) directly to plastic water lines; they can melt or deform.
